Description

A pair of photos with decorative background from page 106 of brochure Seattle and the Orient (1900), collectively captioned as "A charming Beacon Hill residence." The pictures are also individually captioned:

  • Left: "Residence of G.W. Stetson"
  • Right: "Pretty interior residence G.W. Stetson"
Polk's Seattle City Directory 1899 (Polk's Seattle Directory Co., 1899), p. 921 gives the address as 1231 13th Ave. S.

p. 106 of Seattle and the Orient (more properly, Seattle …and the… Orient), a 1900 "souvenir" pamphlet edited and compiled by Alfred D. Bowen and published by The Times Printing Company (that is, the Seattle Times).

Scanned at 300 dpi; images cleaned up using Picture Publisher's "remove pattern" feature.

The exterior photo has had a bit of manipulation to provide a background at upper right, since this corner is cut off in the original layout. The interior photo is of relatively low quality; that is the case in the brochure itself.
