[edit]DescriptionScutellinia crinita (Bull.) Lambotte 597521.jpg |
Scutellinia crinita (Bull.) Lambotte Image location: McClellan Ranch Park, Cupertino, Santa Clara Co., California, USA On pieces of decaying wood (fallen down oak), on the ground. All over the place. Caps less than 1 cm. Longest hairs over 1 mm. Asci 220-240 × 18-24. Paraphyses ~245 microns long, widen up to 8 microns at the tips. Spores 20-21 × 13-14.5, maybe not quite mature. [Added 16 Feb 2016] Hairs at the margin up to 1.5 mm long, 50 microns wide near the base; the base bifurcate or multifurcate. The underside entirely covered by (progressively shorter) hairs; the few I looked at measured ~300-400 × 30 and were bifurcate. Ejected spores (obtained as Malcolm described): 18-19 × 12.5-13.5. Used references: Malcolm (Flaxton)
