Description
Deutsch: Der Ursprung dieser Schlossanlage ist weitgehend unbekannt. Wahrscheinlich wurde im 10 Jhd mit dem Bau einer Burg auf einem Felssporn im Tal der Müglitz begonnen. Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurde die Anlage 1318. Formal als Erbe der böhmischen Krone wird Weesenstein 1459 erklärt. Im 30 jährigen Krieg wird die Schlossanlage und die Umgebung von Pirna 10 Jahre lang von brandschatzenden und plündernden schwedischen Soldateska stark verwüstet.

1933 schließlich erwarb der Landesverein sächsischer Heimatschutz das Schloss und implementierte ein Museum. In der DDR verfiel die Anlage langsam, da das Geld für eine Erhaltung fehlte. Seit der Wiedervereinigung gehört das Schloss dem sächsischen Staat und wird aufwendig restauriert.

Das Schloss liegt 20 Km südlich von Dresden und 10 Km westlich von Pirna.
