(Collectie Buysse-Verschoore) Scheveningen (The Hague) was in 1917 already well equipped for beach holidays. The Netherlands managed to remain neutral in World War I, yet it's still difficult to believe that around this time, a mere 200 kms away, thousands were dying in the Flemish and French trenches.
