Description

Schematic representation showing resection margins. A shows margin negative and B show margin positive excisions of a lesion.

In a margin negative resection the lesion (e.g. tumour) is complete excised; no lesional tissue is left behind the in the patient.

In a margin positive resection some lesional tissue is left behind in the patient.

The schematic is inspired by a mypathologyreport.ca figure.
