Seashell (Clanculus puniceus) image captured using scanning light photography instrument.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A collaborative science and art project between Charles Kazilek and William Sharp. The seashell image was captured using a scanning light photography instrument built by Kazliek and Sharp. This method of macro photography provided unlimited depth of field so that the subject would be completely in focus in the Z-plane using film cameras. This predates digital stacking techniques that use a series of images (stack) taken of a subject that is then processed in a computer to assemble a single image that eliminates the out-of-focus areas. Shot using Kodachrome 25 ISO 35mm. Scanned using a Nikon Coolscan to generate a digital image.
