Older men with printed placard from Melbourne protest December 30, 2008, of Israel's bombing of Gaza. Taken at the rally on the lawns of the State Library on December 30, 2008. These older men, are probably from the Turkish community and show the range of people, both in ethnic background and age who attended this protest. The photograph published in the Age newspaper with a small text story showed angry young men in front of a palestinian flag. A much better characterisation of this protest was the broad range of people from the muslim community including older men, women and children who attended who quietly voiced their protest at the butchery of Israel in their indiscriminate bombing of women and children in Gaza.
