[edit]DescriptionSapantirtha Pond Tokha Kathmandu Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (4).jpg |
English: Sapnatirtha is a pilgrimage site located in Tokha Municipality of Kathmandu District. As Shivpuri is close to hills and forest, this place is very beautiful. There is a religious belief that Lord Shiva and his gangs resided in this place. That is why the name of the nearby hill and forest has been changed to Shivpuri. This place is located on the north side of Tokha Bazaar. There is a pond here which is called Sapantirtha. This is where the main flow of the Bishnumati river falls. The Panidhalo south of this spring is called Bishnupadu's Vishnap. This is the place where a religious fair is held at the beginning of every new year, i.e. on the 1st of Baishakh Nepali Era.
In ancient times there was a generous and religious king named Satyavanta. Of his seven daughters, Satyawan Dani married a leprosy to his seventh daughter. One day, while the patient was sleeping on the grass of the confluence of the multifaceted Ganga and the milk-fed Ganga, he found out in a dream that his disease would be cured if he took a bath in a pond near the place where he was sleeping. After some time, when the shepherds killed the small insects and threw them in this pond, they saw that the insects came out as they were. After that, the patient jumped into the pool and realized that his disease was cured. In that case, when the princess came to ask for alms, when she saw her husband who was suddenly cured of the disease, she felt as if she had been deceived. But all the incidents there are said by the shepherds. After that, the princess told all the incidents to the king. Since the day of liberation from the disease is on the 1st of Baishakh, the devotees are excited by the effect of the incident on the same day and come to bathe in this shrine on the day of this festival with the desire to get rid of the disease. Now the pond is very beautiful and well-organized, so the locals, especially children, enjoy swimming in the pond on a daily basis. |
