Description

Nicolau Nasoni, autor das pinturas que revestem as abóbadas da Sé de Lamego, desenhou algumas das obras barrocas que decoram o conjunto do santuário, nomeadamente uma belíssima fonte em granito que se encontra ao lado do Santuário. Diversos patamares enriquecem o monumental escadório com interessantes obras escultóricas que amenizam a longa subida, salientando-se a fonte do Pelicano e uma pequena capela octogonal erguida no s. XVI em honra da Virgem a mando do Bispo D. Manuel de Noronha. Num dos patamares, erguem-se dezoito estátuas representando reis e patriarcas da Judeia, elevando-se no centro de uma monumental taça de água um obelisco com 22 m de altura, decorado e sustentado por míticos atlantes.
