English: Sampler worked in very fine cross stitch in black, brown, blue, green, yellow and red silk on a white linen ground. Composed in two sections: on the left, bands of alphabets and spot motifs, various doors and windows. On the right a house with very large birds perched on top, a garden vista, a gate with a key, a carriage with horses, and various figures of people and dogs. All separated by fine running vine borders. |
