| Description |
English: Salt City Market, 484 South Salina Street at West Onondaga Street, Syracuse, New York, April 2022. Opened in January 2021, this lively downtown food hall is the product of over a decade of planning by local community organizers in collaboration with the Allyn Family Foundation who, in creating a multicultural space for small-scale entrepreneurs to set up shop and thrive, took inspiration from similar projects around the country such as La Cocina in San Francisco, the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis, and the West Side Bazaar in Buffalo. Salt City Market today comprises twelve different food and drink stalls representing cuisines from Iraqi to Southern American to Jamaican to various flavors of Southeast Asian, as well as a satellite location of the community-owned Syracuse Cooperative Market offering a full line of groceries. The upper floors contain 26 brand-new apartments at varying price points. |
