| Description | Aleppo : The Citadel. The Glacis or Ramp stretched from the bottom of the ditch to the foot of the battlements. This was the Citadel's defence against mining when besieging armies would try to tunnel beneath the battlements where explosives would be packed and exploded with the intention of breaching the walls. |
