| Description |
English: Sakkarai Pongal or mushy jaggery rice is often served in temples and made in South Indian households during auspicious days. This recipe is made with particular rice, moong lentil, jaggery, cashew, raisin and ghee. This sweet recipe is a must dish during Pongal festival and tamil new year. This is made to denote that the upcoming days would be sweet as this recipe and ro show the prosperity after harvesting (since pongal festival is celebrated after harvest). After made it is shared among the neighbors after worshipping. This recipe is taken as breakfast. |
