| Description |
愛媛県 西条市 の祭礼「西条祭り」の塗りだんじり。 通常は年数が経った古い白木屋台を塗るが、現在では必ずしもそうでない傾向にある。 従来の顔料塗りに加えて、近年では奮発して高価な本漆などで塗る屋台も増え、 また有名な塗り師に塗りを依頼するなど 屋台の塗りは年々豪華で派手なものになりつつある。 塗りにすると基本的に屋台の重量がいくぶん重くなるので 塗りを極力嫌う町内もある。 塗りの色は黒塗りが一般的であるが、稀に朱塗りの屋台も存在する。 朱塗りとする屋台が少数であることについては意味があったとして諸説存在するようであるが 朱塗りについての特別な意味を証明する文献や伝承はほぼ現存しておらず、 そのため現在では 塗りを黒塗りまたは朱塗りにするかどうかはそれぞれの町内の判断で決定されている。 |
