[edit]DescriptionSafavid temp Husayn I.jpg |
English: Islamic Dynasties
Safavid, temp. Husayn I, AH 1105-1135 / AD 1694-1722, prestige civic copper bronze falus (17.44g, 37mm). Isfahan AH 1117, lion walking right through the forest, sun behind, A-3237.2. Boldly struck on a broad, medallic flan, with a smooth brown patina. Choice Extremely Fine. Isfahan is the most common of the several mints known, but this example is presumably the finest one known. A similar example, dated AH 1115, is listed by Rabino, #17, but has been twice pierced and scalloped for decorative use. |
