||
Description |
English: Part of a copper alloy harness fitting; a cheekpiece, bit link or harness link, dating from the early part of the Medieval period. One characteristic knobbed loop survives, with a bar projecting to one side. This terminates in a circular terminal which is broken at the opposite side where the object would have continued. The remaining loop has 3 rounded knops on it that are equally spaced. The reverse is slightly hollow. It has a length of 39.60mm, width 22.05mm, thickness 5.56mm, weight 12.19g. Similar objects can be seen in FRG datasheet number 39 where they are dated to the 11th century. |
