Note: To this stamp ("Standing Helvetia - 30 Rappen - orange brown") are distinguished in the philaletic literature four different types:
- a) 1882; Watermark: Switzerland No. 1 ("cross-in-oval type 1"); perforation: K 11¾ : 11, recess printing;
- background of Helvetia with vertical and horizontal lines, normal white paper (Michel No. 60)
(This variant with the perforation K 11¾ : 11 (how it's showed above) is pretty rare and not often showed (not to mention to become), although both in Michel and Yvert & Tellier catalogues as soon as in AFA or also in the Swiss Zumstein catalogue is listed this stamp. However, this perforation in combination with the watermark No. 1 - type 1 (= "Kontrolldruck 1") is a distinctive characteristic of the first print series from 1882 (but only at the 30-Rappen-stamp of this issue, not at the other values).)
- b) 1891; Watermark Switzerland No. 1 ("cross-in-oval type 2"); perforation: K 11½ : 11; recess printing;
- background of Helvetia with vertical and horizontal lines; normal white paper (Michel No. 60XC)
- c) 1905; Watermark: Switzerland No. 2 (multiple Swiss crosses); perforation: K 11½ : 12; recess printing;
- background of Helvetia with vertical and horizontal lines; normal white paper (Michel No. 76C)
- d) 1907; Watermark Switzerland No. 2 (multiple Swiss crosses without oval); perforation: different; recess printing;
- background of Helvetia with vertical and horizontal lines; but print on granite paper (fibrilled paper) (Michel No. 90)
