Description
English: STEPHEN JACKSON, WHO WAS A CAPTAIN IN GEORGE WASHINGTON’S LIFE GUARDS, BUILT THE ORIGINAL EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY WING OF THIS HOUSE. WASHINGTON REPORTEDLY VISITED JACKSON HERE WHILE TRAVELING TO MOUNT HOPE. THIS STRUCTURE WAS REMOVED IN 1867 FROM THE REMAINING GAMBREL-ROOFED FEDERAL STYLE WING BUILT IN 1816 BY STEPHEN’S SON, COLONEL JOSEPH JACKSON AS AN ADDITION.
