Summary
[edit]DescriptionSNCF CC 6558.jpg |
English: SNCF Alsthom Class CC 6500 1,500V dc, 7,900 hp C-C (monomotor bogies) No.CC 6558, built 1972, at Longueville depot during the AJECTA Festival, 6 May 2023.
A ‘state of the art’ design when built which illustrates the advanced thinking of the SNCF. The Class were intended for 125mph operation on the best rapide trains, such as Le Mistral. They even had ‘preannonce’ cab signalling equipment. 74 were built in 1969-75 and 4 of a dual voltage version (1.5kV DC/25kV AC), Class CC2100, which were converted to DC Class CC 6500 locos in 1995-96. Magnificent locomotives though they were, all were withdrawn by 2007. |
