Summary
[edit]DescriptionSK-JBirdsFlying.JPG |
English: Two birds which were hopping around the ground on a foot path at the edge of the woodlands. They then took to flight and looked like black and white streaks zooming around. Photo taken near South Saskatchewan River south of Saskatoon in Chief Whitecap Park between the Saskatoon golf and country club and Riverside golf club, west of Furdale.
Dark grey upperparts, white underbelly, lighter coloured bill. Smaller than a blackbird. Females have more brown on backs and wings than males which are a steadier colour of grey throughout. Females may have a grey hood and grey upper breast, giving rise to a white lower breast and brown and grey wings and back. Compare to Junco hyemalis [1] E-bird Saskatchewan Dark-eyed Junco Audobon All about birds Slate-coloured Junco / Junco ardoisé (Junco hyemalis) [2] [3] USGS [4] [5] "Once a pair is formed, males follow their mates and are seldom more than 50 feet away.[6]" Same birds as in image....
