Group size: 8 - 17 ind. Gorillas are diumal animals spending their time foraging (67%), travelling (11%) and resting (21%). The rest of the time is dedicated to social activities (<1%). They are semi-terrestrial primates with females being more arboreal than males. They live in harems made up of one dominant male called the silverback, and several females. Single blackback males can also live together or solitarily before to form their own harem. Young blackback males usually leave their natal group around 12 years old. ECOLOGIE : 1g-multiQ, solitaire ¿. Taille du groupe : 8 à 17 ind. Les gorilles sont des animaux doubles qui passent leur temps à se nourrir (67 %), à voyager (11 %) et à se reposer (21 %). Le reste du temps est consacré aux activités sociales (<1%). Ce sont des primates semi-terrestres, les femelles étant plus arboricoles que les mâles. Ils vivent dans des harems composés d'un mâle dominant appelé dos argenté et de plusieurs femelles. Les mâles célibataires à dos noir peuvent également vivre ensemble ou solitairement avant de former leur propre harem. Les jeunes mâles à dos noir quittent généralement leur groupe natal vers l’âge de 12 ans. Ils construisent des nids de complexité variable dans les arbres ou directement sur le sol pour dormir la nuit et faire des siestes pendant la journée. |
