Description
English: This is Figure 8 of Utilization of ASTP Photographs in the Study of Small Structures in Abu Rawâsh and Wâdi el Natrûn, Egypt by Hassan A. El-Etr and Farouk El -Baz, in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project Summary Science Report, Volume II, Earth Observations and Photography (1979, NASA SP-412), which has the following caption:
FIGURE 8.— A crust of pinkish-white salt in the process of formation at the edge of Ruzunia Lake in the middle of Wâdi el Natrûn . The purple-brown color of the water is similar to that described and photographed by the Skylab 4 and the ASTP astronauts in the northern half of the Great Salt Lake in Utah (ref. 11). The salt layers in this region display a pink color (photograph by Farouk El-Baz).
