Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Rumeli Mecidiye Tabyası (Bastion) was constructed by Asaf Pasha under Sultan Abdulhamid II in the early 1890s. The fortress had guns with a barrel length of 8,4 meters and could fire shells up to 215 kg. At a gun on display there were statues of the famous gunner who carried the heavy shells on his back (Seyit Çabuk) when the lifting mechanism was out of action and other people involved. It provided a photo opportunity for the visiting crowds.
