Brief von Rudolf von Slatin, wahrscheinlich an den Geographen Hans Meyer, 4. Mai 1899, (eine vo 2 1/4 Seiten)

"... Vor einigen Tagen erhielt ich von Herrn Prof. Dr. Ratzel die Aufforderung gegen Honorar im Verein für Erdkunde in Leipzig eine Vorlesung zu halten. Ich thue dies in München da ich seit Jahren Ehrenmitglied der dortigen geograph. Gesellschaft bin und mich gewissermaßen verpflichtet fühle dort Mittheilung über meine Erlebnisse und Beobachtungen zu machen. In Stuttgart thue ich dieses nur in folge dringender Aufforderung mir persönlich enmg befreundeter Professoren. Ich fühle nicht den Beruf in mir als öffentlicher Redner ohne dringende Nothwendigkeit aufzutreten und fehlt mir hiezu Zeit und Talent! Ich bedaure, daß ich dem zu folge kaum in die Lage kommen dürfte Ihren und Herrn Dr. Ratzels Wunsche nackkommen zu können ...".
