Description

A Rua do Lavradio é uma via da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, localizada no bairro do Centro, começando na Rua do Riachuelo e terminando na Rua Visconde de Rio Branco.

Foi aberta em 1755 e ampliada em 1777 pelo 2º Marquês do Lavradio, Luis de Almeida Portugal Soares de Alarcão Eça e Melo Silva e Mascarenhas, que por dez anos foi Vice-Rei do Brasil (1769-1779).

Mandou construir a sua residência nessa rua, cujo prédio ainda se localiza na esquina com a Rua da Relação, onde promovia muitas festas e reuniões sociais como forma de compensar as poucas opções de lazer da capital da Colônia.

A Rua do Lavradio, no centro histórico do Rio, conta, hoje, com concorridos bares e restaurantes e nela são promovidas feiras de antiguidades prestigiadas pelos mais conhecidos antiquários da cidade.

Também alí se encontra o jornal "Tribuna da Imprensa", do qual o seu antigo proprietário, o jornalista Carlos Lacerda, na década de cinquenta, sustentou uma campanha política contra o segundo governo de Getúlio Vargas.
