Description

Spitaltor und Spitalbastei sind ein Bollwerk das im 16 Jhd in Form einer 8 gebaut wurde. Das Bollwerk hat sieben Tore, eine Zugbrücke und ein Fallgitter. Spitaltor and Spital Bastion are a bulwark in the 16 th century. The bulwark has seven gates, a drawbridge and a portcullis. Der Ursprung der Stadt ist der Ortsteil Detwang. Dort wurde anfänglich durch den Adligen Reiniger eine Pfarrei, später eine Grafenburg über dem Fluss Tauber (od der Tauber) errichtet. Diese Burg wurde 1356 durch ein Erdbeben zerstört. Am 15.05.1274 wurde Rothenburg durch König Rudolf von Habsburg zur Reichsstadt erhoben. Den Titel verlor sie erst wieder 1803. Heute ist die mittelfränkische Kleinstadt eine weltbekannte Kleinstadt wegen ihres weitgehend erhaltenen Altstadtkerns aus dem Mittelalter.
