Treasure case 2011 T282:
A Roman silver snake ring. A small simple example with plain slender circular hoop of circular cross-section, its terminals turned back and formed into snake heads, of plano-convex cross-section, which display signs of wear.
It is Johns category Biv (C. Johns, The Jewellery of Roman Britain (UCL Press, London, 1996), 45).

Date: Roman, probably 2nd to 3rd century AD.

Dimensions: external 17.3 x 17.3 mm; internal 14.2 x 12.2 mm.

Weight: 2.4 g.


In age and precious metal content the object qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the 1996 Treasure Act.
