Title
Roman ear ring (probably)
Description
English:

A penannular copper-alloy ring.

The ring is roughly oval in plan and has slightly convex surfaces, the outer one of which also has a pronounced longitudinal ridge at the centre. The ring tapers towards two sharp points, one of which has been deliberately bent sideways, forming a small loop. The surfaces are corroded. It measures 21.4mm wide, 19.2mm high and 4.1mm thick (width of band). The weight is 2.05g.

Other similar artefacts are recorded on the PAS database - see, for example, ESS-4AB395. It is suggested that they are Roman period ear rings.
