Description

very close to the inhabitants Rue roger Radisson - Lyon 5ème - Quartier St Just/Fourvière

L’aqueduc du Gier, construit entre le Ier siècle et le IIème siècle de notre ère, alimentait en eau la ville antique de Lugdunum (Lyon). Depuis son point de départ au Mont Pilat où il captait l’eau du Gier, il parcourait 86 kilomètres avec une alternance de sections enterrées et de section aériennes.

Aujourd'hui, une partie de ces vestiges gallo-romains est encore visible,

La particularité de ce monument vient de son parement réticulé, parement de petites pierres à face carrée de 10 cm de côté, disposées en biais et évoquant les mailles d’un filet.

Cet ensemble est exceptionnel en France, voire en Europe
