The illustration derives from figure 26 of Tabula II Nummi Britannici on Page 98 of William Camden's Britannia, Vol. I. Its shared note states "24, 25, 26. When Magnus Maximus was created Emperor by the army in Britain, as also his son Flavius Victor; this money was coined in compliment and honour to the soldiers: and Theodosius, after he had dispatched them, stamped that with the inscription, VIRTVTE EXERCITVS, upon the very same account."
