Roman Coin : Denarius of Hadrian
Description
English: A base silver Republican denarius of Mark Antony dating to the period 32 - 31 BC (Reece Period 1). LEG VI reverse depicting legionary eagle between two standards. Travelling mint.

These coins were struck by Mark Antony in travelling mints for the use of his fleet and legions when he was preparing for the struggle with Octavius, which culminated in the Battle of Actium on the 2nd of September, 31 BC. The debased nature of this coinage meant that is remained in circulation for an extended period into the 3rd century AD so are most often found in very worn condition or with bankers' assay marks.
