In the East Kootenay reserve the gameis increasing, and it is suggested that thereserve be made a permanent nationalpark. The importation of European reddeer and chamois is^ suggested. It isstated in detail that the first named havebeen most successfnlly acclimated in NewZealand. A plea is entered for the grizzly bear,said to be nearing extermination in sever-al districts. The animals are reported tobe timid and it is suggested that it beprohibited to trap them. Beaver have increased enormously insouthern British Columbia, and in someparts of Kootenay, Okanagan, Similka-meen and Kamloops, sufficiently so to bea nuisance to fruit growers. Permissionto kill them under restrictions is suggest-ed. The report is not so encouraging as togame birds, though even in this case itwould seem that conditions are improvingin British Columbia as the result of thework by the warden and his as-sistants.

During the last hunting season a gen-tleman was standing on the platform atSudbury Station, Ont., and by his sidewas a large moose head. A passingbrakeman stopped to admire the trophyand asked the owner where he had cap-tured it. The gentleman replied that hehad been hunting north of Cartier towhich place he was directed by a man ofthe name of Miner, of Kingsville, Ont. Oh, commented the brakeman, Iknow him. He is in camp up the linenow. Indeed, remarked the gentleman, Iwould like to see him. What kind ofa looking fellow is he ? Who, Jack Miner ? asked the brake-man.
