Suffolk, acquired the half Barony of Bolam c. 1295, built Aydon Castle and Shortflatt Tower which for upwards of three centuries was the home of his descendants, married Maude daughter of Sir Nicholas de Wortley & grand-daughter of Sir William Heron of Ford, took part in all the Scottish wars of that period & died 1324 – This effigy was restored by Frederick Raimes of Stockton on Tees and Acaster Malbis 1911". Arms above: de Bolam family, a cross engrailed, per "Craister table", referred to p.342 A History of Northumberland, in Three Parts: Parts 2 and 3, Volume 1, By John HODGSON (M.R.S.L., Vicar of Hartburn.)[1]. |
