Description
Nederlands: Schout-bij-nacht Rob Kramer is per 22 september de nieuwe Commandant Zeestrijdkrachten. In die functie is hij tevens admiraal Benelux. Hij wordt op 11 september bevorderd tot vice-admiraal. Kramer volgt luitenant-generaal der mariniers Rob Verkerk op die na 39 jaar met functioneel leeftijdsontslag gaat. Kramer begon zijn carrière tot marineofficier aan het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Marine (KIM). Daarna vervulde hij voornamelijk operationele functies aan boord van fregatten en bij de mijnendienst. Hij nam onder meer deel aan NAVO-operatie Sharp Guard ter handhaving van het handelsembargo voor de kust van voormalig Joegosla­vië. In 2006 voerde Kramer het commando over het luchtverdedigings- en commandofregat Hr. Ms. Evertsen. Dit schip werd in 2008 onder zijn leiding als eerste Nederlandse eenheid ingezet voor de Somalische kust in de strijd tegen piraterij en ter bescherming van de schepen van het World Food Program. In 2014 volgde het commando over de Netherlands Maritime Force. Sinds 1 juni 2016 is Kramer als schout-bij-nacht Plaatsvervangend Commandant Zeestrijdkrachten.
