Description
English: Contractors use a milling machine to remove a portion of the flight line at the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard's facility in Swanton, Ohio, March 26, 2008.
  • The concrete is being removed in preparation for the building of a seven-foot-wide, 14-foot-tall blast wall which will protect the community and businesses on the other side from potential forward firing munitions.
  • The blast wall is being erected as part of the infrastructure for the Air Sovereignty Alert Mission, which will aid in the protection of the continental United States and Canada under the direction of North American Air Defense Command.
Français : Un sous-traitant gratte le revêtement d'une portion de piste du 180e Fighter Wing, base aérienne de la Garde nationale de l'Ohio à Swanton, Ohio (États-Unis d'Amérique), le 26 mars 2008. Le revêtement est enlevé pour préparer l'érection d'un mur de béton anti-déflagration de 2.1 m de large, 4.3 m de haut, destiné à protéger les activités et les personnes de tirs éventuels de munitions. Cette construction fait partie de la Mission de surveillance de l'espace aérien (Air Sovereignty Alert Mission), qui facilitera la protection de la partie continentale des États-Unis et du Canada sous la direction du Commandement de la défense aérienne nord-américaine (North American Air Defense Command)
