English: River Cam, downstream of Baits Bite Lock Looking downstream from the end of Fen Road, Milton.
The workboat moored on the opposite bank is the 'Michael C', named in honour of the Chairman of the Conservators of the River Cam, Professor Michael Chisholm, who stood down from this voluntary position at the end of 2007. It was commissioned by the Conservators in 2006 and built by a small boat-building business, HMS, of Brundall, Norfolk, at a cost of £35,000. Its purpose-made crane improves river maintenance operations on the river, helping the Conservators staff to clear hazardous debris such as fallen trees and discarded bicycles and shopping trolleys from the waterway. |
