s lack of knowledge in regard to this newand astoundingly rapid growing thing. That obstacle is being removed withgratifying speed through the education ofthe public, and with its disappearance, thecreation of centralized control—a depart-ment of aeronautics—is inevitable. Bills forthis purpose will be introduced in the nextCongress, as they have been in previous ones,and while their passage may be delayed byhostile influences, their eventual passage isinevitable. Just a few words in regard to the AerialCoast Patrol proposition: To those at all familiar with the aerialcoast patrol work of foreign countries dur-ing the recent war, it is well recognizedthat this country must guard from the airnot only its own iminediate coast lines,but must patrol aerially every sea approach to the continent of North America. We must have a great Aerial Coast PatrolSystem, extending on the Atlantic from Cape•Farewell to the Panama Canal, and fromthe Canal to the Aleutian Archipelago onthe Pacific.
