Description
English: «Return of the Names» is an all-Russian civil action organised by the international human rights and educational society "Memorial" in memory of victims of political repressions.

On a predetermined day and time, citizens, one after another, read out the names of their fellow countrymen who were innocently executed during the Soviet regime.
In Moscow, the action takes place from 10am to 10pm always on the eve of the Day of Political Prisoners, i.e. 29 October.
In other Russian localities and abroad the day of the action is set differently, but as a rule it is 29 or 30 October.

Everyone can take part in the action, regardless of age, social status, presence or absence of repressed relatives. Each person is invited to read a list of several names (surname, first name, patronymic of the repressed person, age at the time of death, who worked and date of execution), place a candle and lay flowers.
Русский: «Возвращение имён» — общероссийская гражданская акция памяти жертв политических репрессий, организуемая международным правозащитным и просветительским обществом «Мемориал».
В заранее определённый день и время горожане, сменяя друг друга, зачитывают имена земляков, безвинно расстрелянных в годы советской власти.
В Москве акция проходит с 10 утра до 10 вечера всегда накануне Дня политзаключённого, то есть, 29 октября.
В других российских населённых пунктах и за рубежом день акции устанавливается по-разному, но, как правило, это 29 или 30 октября.
Принять участие в акции могут все желающие, независимо от возраста, социального статуса, наличия или отсутствия репрессированных родственников. Каждому пришедшему предлагается прочитать список из нескольких имён (фамилия, имя, отчество репрессированного, возраст на момент гибели, кем работал и дата расстрела), поставить свечу и возложить цветы.
