Description

Retired bus bays at Eglinton TTC station, 2014 07 03 (10)

These bus bays were used for two or three decades. Later stations, on the Bloor-Danforth line, used a similar design, where one or two routes shared a dedicated platform, but the bays were larger. A weakness in this design is that when a passenger had several bus routes that would take them to their destination, they nevertheless had to pick one platform, making it difficult or impossible to catch a bus on one of the alternate routes. Later stations built in in 1980 and later that had a large number of incoming buses, would have a waiting area where passengers could see all incoming buses.
