Summary
[edit]DescriptionRest area in Chapel Street - geograph.org.uk - 1167997.jpg |
English: Rest area in Chapel Street. This interesting area alongside Chapel Street, which is described on one plaque as a monument, was created by William Rowlands between 1930 and 1937. The plaques are educational and bi-lingual displaying the Welsh counties in English and Welsh, the two alphabets, and the days of the week and numbers from 1-20, also in English and Welsh. The bottom plaque states:
DEUWCH O'R NEILLTU, Y MAE I CHWI CROESO, YR IEUANC I DDYSGU, A'R HEN I ORFFWYSO. YOU ARE INVITED TO BE MY GUEST, THE YOUNG TO LEARN, AND THE OLD TO REST Penllyn The plaque above the door records that the area was restored in 1976 by students of Bangor Technical College, and a plaque on the right records that the area was again refurbished by Conwy Town Council in March 1996.
