I used to get to work at IBM-by-the-airport just as the morning training flight were coming back home- They'd roll knife-edge and turn in, one at a time, to spread out for landing. One of the turn points was apparently the parking lot I used, so they'd go over at about 500 feet, flying sideways, then turn 180 degrees and put out the speed brakes, landing gear and flaps. What a cool thing to watch! Eventually the "Euro Lizard" 3 tone scheme was replaced by a 2 tone gray, as seen on the right. A10-DM-94-xx |
