Title |
English: Replanted Orchard from the House at Lindenwald |
||||
Description |
English: A grid of soil mounds with young trees planted in each, viewed from inside through a second-story wooden window framed by drapes with tassles. During the time that Martin Van Buren lived on the property, between 1841 and 1862, an extensive orchard grew northwest of the mansion. By recent years and without continual maintenance, the area had grown into a woodlot. This orchard rehabilitation project helps to reflect the agricultural practices and character in the historic landscape when Martin Van Buren lived here.
