Summary
[edit]DescriptionReplacing A40 railway bridge (Perryn Road Bridge) - geograph.org.uk - 313384.jpg |
English: Replacing A40 railway bridge (Perryn Road Bridge) This bridge is over the North London line which will become "London Overground". The present bridge is 75 years old and needs renewing. Because it carries 4 lanes of traffic on an important access to London, lanes cannot be closed for rebuilding. So in effect a temporary bridge will be built alongside, then the existing bridge will be replaced. See 313376 for a closer view of the 1000 ton crane which lifts bridge beams into place. See Transport for London A40 bridges pages http://www.a40actonbridges.info/index.php for information about the project. View from northern end of A40 footbridge - which will be replaced by a pedestrian and cycle toucan crossing as part of the project. |
