[edit]DescriptionRepairing a 48-page book (24 sheets) with my Singer 192k (11004848794).jpg |
The science department had some oversize paperbacks with loose pages that I was pretty sure I could repair for them. I took four copies of a single 48-page (24 sheet) title, collated the sheets, and wrapped the binding edge in a strip of tissue paper before putting binding clamps around the sides to keep the sheet edges aligned together. I then fed the whole shebang through Cynthia, my Singer 192k, using the handwheel - not the motor! - to punch through the collated sheets, keeping a fairly even 3/8" from the previously-bound edge, which still retained some glue. After sewing I removed the tissue paper from each packet and later spread Demco Norbond glue along the binding edge of the cover, pressing the packet in and using binder clips to clamp the glued area until dry.
