Summary
[edit]DescriptionRemains of St Brynach's Church - geograph.org.uk - 1513801.jpg |
English: Remains of St Brynach's Church Cwm-yr-Eglwys, or Valley of the Church, is a small settlement nestled at the eastern end of the deep valley of Cwm Dewi and sheltered from the prevailing westerlies. There is a popular sandy beach and slipway, a few holiday cottages, a small car park with honesty box and public conveniences. The church of St Brynach, or what is left of it, was destroyed during the so-called great Royal Charter Storm of 1859. Only the belfry and west wall and part of the graveyard remain, standing sentinel over the beach.
The following link shows a picture of the church before its destruction. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CwmyreglwysGastineau.jpg |
