Description

This photograph of Hartlepool's Great Timber Yard Fire in 1922 shows residents picking objects out of a house that had been reduced to rubble during the blaze. Given the scale of this building's destruction and the temperatures that the fire reached, it is surprising that any objects survived the inferno.
