[edit]DescriptionRaynes Park Bournemouth Belle geograph-2966169-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Up 'Bournemouth Belle' passing Raynes Park.
The first coach in the train is not a Pullman vehicle but a Mark 1 full brake borrowed from the Western Region. It was noticed that the chocolate a cream livery used by the WR on some named trains was a reasonable match for the Pullman livery of the time. 2 chocolate a cream Mk1 BGs were taken from the WR by the SR to provide additional luggae space on their Pullman services.View westward from the country end of the Up main platform (staggered station), towards Surbiton, Woking and the West: ex-LSW Waterloo - West of England main line. The crack 'Bournemouth Belle' Pullman ran seven days of the week, leaving Bournemouth West at 16.30 and was due in at Waterloo at 18.46. This day the locomotive is rebuilt Bulleid 'Merchant Navy' 4-6-2 No. 35028 'Clan Line' (built 12/48, rebuilt 10/59, withdrawn 7/67 - but preserved). Belonging to the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society, it is currently (2012) based at Stewarts Lane Depot and continues to run on main-line Rail Tours. |
