Summary
[edit]DescriptionRaven at Windermere Steamboat Museum (Geograph-2266703-by-David-Dixon).jpg |
English: Windermere Steamboat Museum Jetty. The Windermere Steamboat Museum is on the shore of Lake Windermere, at Rayrigg Road, just to the north of Bowness-on-Windermere. Prior to being acquired by the Windermere Nautical Trust in 1975, the site was for many years where the barges unloaded gravel dredged from the bed of Lake Windermere. The Museum was built in 1976-77 with the help of The Maritime Trust and the English Tourist Board. This photograph shows the steamboat ‘Raven’ at the jetty outside the museum shortly after it had opened in 1977. |
