Description
English: Ratna Chaitya located in the middle of the Golden Temple of Hiranyavarna Mahavihar in Patan, Lalitpur District. According to the copperplate of this temple, the Kathmandu Valley was a supernatural lake. Even after the water of this lake flowed out of the valley, some supernatural ponds remained and according to popular belief, one of the remaining supernatural ponds was a supernatural pond at the place where Ratnachaitya was located in the middle of Hiranyavarna Mahavihar. This supernatural pond was protected by snakes called Barun Satyabati. The Shakya dynasties migrated from Kapilvastu to the Kathmandu Valley, meditating on the religious significance of this supernatural pond and settled around the pond. This Ratna Chaitya is very artistic in style. Made of metal, this chaitya is of great importance from a Buddhist religious point of view.
