This image, dated 3 February, is the first 2022 image of Iceland to be acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Iceland is located just south of the Arctic Circle. In the period from November to January, it therefore remains invisible to optical satellite acquisitions due to the boreal night. This image, dated 3 February, is the first 2022 image of Iceland to be acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites. It shows a rare view of the southern part of the island entirely covered in snow. During this time of year, the island is usually hidden by clouds due to a continuous influx of Arctic storms.
